gryffindor head of house
Returning to his post as Gryffindor Head of House this term was Hogwarts Potions Master, Arthur Newton. His uncanny ability to blend the lines of muggle chemistry with magical brews certainly helped play a role in the man's ability to see to and cater to each Gryffindor's unique standards. As anyone who knows anything about Gryffindors can tell you, they certainly can be a rambunctious bunch! His presence, and that of Madame Curie, was missed this term as private matters kept the man quit busy juggling affairs at home while trying to maintain the integrity that Gryffindor house deserved. It was therefore with a heavy heart that the tea loving man resigned from both his post as Gryffindor Head of House and Potions Master at the conclusion of this term. We wish you well, Professor Newton!
gryffindor prefects
This fierce Lioness can usually be found in the training room as she had made it her goal to not only become an Auror, but try to be an anamagi as well! Talk about some amazing goals, Also her prefect duties and studying for OWLS makes her one busy girl and yet she still has time to be an amazing friend (she's my best friend!) and girlfriend. I found Noelle Summers in the training room and managed to snag a moment to talk to her about her first year as a prefect.
1.Hello! Thanks so much for meeting with me, let's dive right in shall we? This was your first term as a prefect, how do you think it went?
I think it went okay but I'm always striving to be better. I think I could be better as a prefect. Become more involved.
2. Did becoming a prefect come as a shock to you?
It did actually. I was thinking Char would have been made prefect. It was a happy shock!
3.) Did you feel a need to prove yourself seeing as some people didn't think you deserved this?
People didn't think I deserved it? I hadn't heard that before but its not too big of a shock since I was shocked that I was made prefect. But, yeah I do. I want to be worthy of the title.
4.) What did you feel was the best part of your year?
The best part of the year would have been ... everyone getting back safely. That monster was scary. But we beat it!
5.) What was your worst?
Worst would have been making mistakes I had no business making and other people getting hurt by them.
6.) Do you sometimes wish that we could have just a normal year at Hogwarts?
It wouldn't be Hogwarts if it was normal.
7.) You wanna be an Auror right? Has that helped motivate you in being a prefect?
It has actually. I think it looks good on your transcript if you're a prefect. That, and, I feel a certain responsibility for people that I'm sure aurors feel.
8.) How do you feel about your fellow Prefect?
Ace is amazing! He's such a great people person and knows how to handle all kinds of situations.
9.) Almost done I promise! Favorite class?
DADA. I know that's a popular answer but, it's mine too. There's a lot of hands on, Professor Hirsch has great teaching skills and patience, and it keeps my attention at 100% all the time.
10.) And finally! Give the people a a peek at who you are, What are a few of your favorite things?
Few of my favorite things? Hmm... well I'm a bit goal oriented at the moment so most of my time is spent doing things I need to, to achieve them. But if I had more time in the day, I'd really love to have Olly teach me how to draw. Or Az to teach me the piano. Or Noah to teach me to play Quidditch. I'd love to make jewelry. But I'm not sure I'd be very good at it. I'd love to travel and see the world a bit. I'm not terribly good at just one exact thing like most people are. I'm just me.
This unique Gryffindor certainly has his own way of doing things things, I remember one of my first clear memories of him was watching as he beat up a wet Slytherin tie thinking it was a snake! I laughed so hard I nearly fell over. But he is a lovely person, and during a challenge for Professor Drapers class, he had to direct me, while I was blindfolded though an obstacle course, and I didn't hit anything! Tenacius Salander is the whole package and I hope you get the chance to get to know him well! I caught up with him in the courtyard as he was fixing his hover board that he cruises around on and asked him a few questions about this year.
1.)Hello! Thanks so much for meeting with me, let's dive right in shall we? This was your first term as a prefect, how do you think it went?
INTENSE. There's so.much.words I can use to describe it, but intense is pretty much the catch-all for it
2.) Did becoming a prefect come as a shock to you?
It did actually. I really wasn’t expecting it because there were like... lotsa other boys that were either older than me or have their act together better than I did. At least that's what it seemed to me.
3.) Did you feel a need to prove yourself since you were a fourth year?
It kinda did, I was a fourth year and the youngest among the team of Student Leaders. The youngest among a lot of Gryffindor boys that was like... really awesome themselves y'know? Plus maybe its just me, but I felt that I had to do at least a competent job in this given my dad was a Prefect and Head Boy (for Slytherin) when he was here. I think that was where most of the pressure came from.
4.) What did you feel was the best part of your year?
Uhm....I don’t really wanna talk about it in an interview. I will tell you the second best part of my year-- that other Hogwarts! Yeah I know its scary but that was like-- another universe you know? Parallel dimension! How often would anyone encounter that in their lifetime? NEVER for most people. Its an incredible adventure!
5.) What was your worst?
Worst part of my year was that I wasn’t able to keep the Monster from invading our Hogwarts. I mean sure I was alone and that was a powerful monster, but I'm a Prefect and its part of my job to keep others safe. I kinda failed on that. Then I got a head wound and I wasn’t even able to get payback on him. But I sure am glad we managed to shut that Portal down.
6.) Do you sometimes wish that we could have just a normal year at Hogwarts?
Isn't this what normal is in Hogwarts? If you mean "uneventful", I dunno, we do have quiet times during the year too, its not like we're missing out on that. But I always felt adventure is part of Hogwarts life, it's in our history. It's just how we roll yknow? Its what makes us unique from other Wizarding schools, to me anyway.
7.) What do you want to be when you leave this lovely school?
I haven't really decided on that. I have lots of interests, I mean I love creatures-- my Mom is a Magizoologist, and I've been around and taking care of all sorts of creatures all my life. But I also love mixing potions and cooking and things like that... And then I'm a huge fan of anything that can break the speed barrier and take off the ground. So yeah....who knows what's in store for me eh? I always believed in living life as an adventure.
8.) How do you feel about your fellow Prefect?
Oh Noelle is real nice and kind and PRETTY. Yeah she's real cool, we work well together.
9.) Almost done I promise! Favorite class?
Awww man....this is one of the hardest questions yknow? How can I pick one when I'm taking all of them? Welp....if I have to choose, probably COMC, but Potions is a very close second.
10.) And finally! Give the people a a peek at who you are, What are a few of your favorite things?
Well people may have seen me cruising around on my hover board-- I made that and keep improving on that, so that’s easily one of my most prized possessions. I guess the next would be my equine keepsakes collection-- biggest one I have is a full sized carnival race horse from Disneyland! And lately my adopted pets from classes have kept me amused and busy. And FOOD. Food is always my favorite thing!
